An unforgettable stay
A village of character

Its imposing Roc and its 180 meters of limestone cliffs dominate the Verdon valley with its turquoise waters. The Verdon is today much less fiery than in the past, calmed down by the hydroelectric dams upstream of the village. But in the past, there were only a few places where it was possible to cross the river. And it is at the foot of the Roc that the valley becomes narrower, an ideal location for the construction of the bridge. It's there, nestled against the slopes of Baous, protected by the Roc, that Castellane was built.
And this is the beginning of the entire history of the town. Castellane is a crossroads that connects Verdon Gorges , the country from Grasse to the Mediterranean, the upper Verdon valley and its Alpine massifs, Provence and the Digne area and even along the Napoleon route. All paths cross there!
The ideal place
for one stay or more
Castellane is a welcoming village with Provencal identity with its colorful facades, its narrow streets, its lively squares where it is so pleasant to relax in the cool of a fountain, discover small shops, bistros and restaurants with terrace.

From the banks of the Verdon to the tower gardens, Castellane is an invitation to stroll. Secrets are hidden there, like its numerous trompe-l'oeil, its ornate doors and knockers, its houses attached to each other, bulging, domed, twisted... and as they gain height, its terracotta tile roofs and their orange nuances. A color palette that changes every season and every hour of the day. If you are lucky enough to be there at sunset, its old houses light up for a few truly magical moments.
