It extends over more than 8 km between Castellane and Saint-André-les-Alpes and covers nearly 500 ha. on surface, it is the second largest lake in the Verdon valley, just behind Lake Sainte-Croix. Castillon lake

The course of the Verdon is punctuated by 5 hydroelectric dams 2 of which are located in the commune of Castellane: Castillon and Chaudanne. They create reservoirs and make it possible to produce electricity using the power of water.

With a flood discharge flow of 1 m3/s and a drain flow rate of 500 m3/s, the power plant can produce an energy of 80 GWh annually, the equivalent of a town of 12 inhabitants, thus producing green, sustainable and carbon-free energy.
