Back to school atmosphere, September is the month of transition, temperatures drop, days are shorter, the valley becomes calmer again. After the heat of summer, we refocus a little on ourselves, we finally find time for ourselves!
Ideal activity, the electric bike. This is my first. In all honesty, I am not an experienced cyclist so I am slightly apprehensive about doing it. the tour of the 2 lakes, 600m of positive elevation gain, 24km… Ouch ouch ouch!

The tour of the two lakes of Castellane
Very nice surprise. No difficulty and we enjoy the silence, the trees, the beauty of the landscapes at our own pace. We are not on the big tourist spots. The road is not too busy and it feels good to enjoy!
After a short briefing with Jean-Fi from Buena Vista, we set off for a 3-hour tour. From the first few pedal strokes, I felt like I was growing wings. We could stop anywhere without asking any questions. First stop at the Chaudanne dam, then we go along the lake with crystal clear waters. As we don't make any noise, we enjoy 3 birds fishing in the lake. Climb to Demandolx via La Silve among oaks and squirrels.

Short break in Demandolx with a breathtaking view, At Eli's Table who welcomes you with a big smile. You can recharge your water bottle or battery if you run out.
For a little more excitement, I decide to branch off by the stony track that leads to Ville de Demandolx. A castle overlooks Lake Castillon and we can imagine the difficult life of these inhabitants, perched on a rocky spur which almost seems to touch the sky.
Let's go downhill! I think I overheated the brake pads! Stop at the Castillon dam with the largest sundial in the world (or almost). Vertigo guaranteed!

We decide to go through The sheep track is bumpy but really fun. Once arriving in Castellane, I cross the village through the Porte de l’Horloge. Don't hesitate to stop at the tourist office, it's just in front. Rue Saint-Victor with its church listed as a Historic Monument. It's noon and we're feeling hungry. Lunch on the terrace at La Forge, I park my bike right in front, it’s very practical.
It's time to give my proud mount back to Jean-Fi! I didn't use the battery that much after all, still plenty of autonomy ahead of me!
It's a great experience, an activity that I recommend during a stay and which meets my green aspirations: favoring soft mobility, taking your time, enjoying the spectacular environment of Castellane without impact.
