By car
Coming to Castellane by car is an excellent option to enjoy the magnificent Provençal landscapes throughout the journey.
- From Nice : Take the A8 motorway towards Aix-en-Provence, exit at exit 36 (Les Adrets de l'Estérel) then follow the D6085 (Route Napoleon) towards Castellane. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes and offers spectacular views.
- From Marseille : Take the A51 motorway towards Sisteron, exit at Les Mées (D4) to join the N85 to Barrême and follow the D4085 to Castellane. The journey takes approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
- From Grenoble : Follow the Napoleon Route (N85) via Gap and Digne-les-Bains to Castellane. The journey takes approximately 3 hours.
By bus
Regional bus services offer a convenient alternative to travel to Castellane.
- From Nice : Regional Express Lines 51 connects Nice to Castellane in approximately 2 hours. Departures are from the Nice bus station and arrival at Place Marcel Sauvaire in Castellane.
- From Digne-les-Bains : Regular buses provide the connection between Digne-les-Bains and Castellane in approximately 1 hour.
Bus tickets can be purchased directly on the bus from the driver (credit card or cash).
By train
Although Castellane does not have a train station, you can take the train to a nearby station and then continue by bus or car.
- Saint-André-les-Alpes station – Chemin de fer de Provence: About 30 minutes from Castellane by car.
- Les Arcs- Draguignan: 1h20 driving from Castellane
- Cannes, Nice, Marseille : Bus connections exist from these station stops (Bus LER51 for Cannes and Nice and LER68 for Marseille – Digne-Les-Bains).
By plane
For those traveling from more distant destinations, flying can be a quick and convenient option.
- Nice Côte d'Azur Airport : About 1h45 by car from Castellane. From there, you can rent a car or take a bus to Castellane (Line Zou 51 Nice – Digne Les Bains).
- Marseille Provence Airport: About 2h15 by car from Castellane or take the Line 66 bus to Digne-Les-Bains then take the Line 51 bus or car).
By bike
